Forward Thinking

Far-sighted planning and preparation are rare in private life. That is what former President Clinton said in a recent address, and I wholeheartedly agree with him. It is even rarer in public life, where politicians react to immediate crisis and fulfilling short-term promises. It makes sense, this is how you get elected and stay in office. However, what is desperately needed is the type of courageous leadership that will tackle the long-term challenges facing America. The fight against radical jihad and reforming social security and medicare are critical to the American future. To accomplish this, we need a leader who is skilled at communicating this need to get the American people on board. This is part of the reason why I am behind the Romney campaign. If any candidate can accomplish this, it is Romney.

More on Romney . . . check out his recent performance on Leno here and here and some debate highlights here, here, here, here, and here.

One more article of note. In a campaign stop in Iowa, Rudy Giuliani said that President Bush will go down in history as a great president. It will be interesting to see how much distance GOP candidates put between themselves and Bush. So far, it looks like not much.

Also coming in the next few days . . . another column from "Uncle John," who is responsible for this sites most popular post to date. If you haven't read it yet, check out the featured columnist section on the right. Hopefully a column from the New Right's new financial writer will be out soon as well. Thanks for your readership.
