Leisurely Saturday Reading

Here are some links to some leisurely Saturday reading for you.

As you know, Queen Elizabeth is in the USA for an official state visit. There will be a offficial state dinner scheduled for Monday that is said to be the social event of the entire Bush Presidency. Read about the fascinating preparations here. You'll read about how when the Queen is finished eating, everyone else is too; and how President Bush is going to have to lose his habit of drinking straight from the bottle.

You can read more about the Queen and her visit to Jamestown here. There is some great history about colonial America in this article if that is your thing.

Finally, here is a must read. This is a touching story about a doctor who is doing great work to persuade patients to not have abortions. This lady is a true saint. While many doctors refuse to see patients considering abortions, Dr. Downes hopes they come to see her, so she can talk them out of it. Here is a great quote from her.
"There we are, desperately trying to save the life of a premature baby born at 21-weeks-old in one hospital theatre, and then down the corridor there are women coming in to abort babies at up to 24 weeks. How can anyone say this makes sense?" Please read and comment.

2 comments. 1. GW should cook up the Queen some good 'ol BBQ ribs and texas toast with beans, potatoes, and the fixin's. She is in the U.S. and should eat the presidents food the way he likes it. When he goes over there she can feed him her way. 2. Great story on the Dr. All Christian Docs should work in this way. There are millions of lives to save out there.

BS,
Thanks for the comment. I thought of a certain future doc when I read the article that you may know.

I also agree, the Queen should eat some BBQ. She isn't our Queen, so we don't have to play by her rules. That said, I wish I could be at that dinner.
