An Ode to Prime Minister Blair

Word has it that Tony Blair will step down as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in the next few weeks. The New Right would like to take a moment to thank Mr. Blair to his service to the world and his friendship to the United States. There is plenty of room to strongly disagree with the Labour party chief's positions on domestic matters, but Blair's courage and foresight on the global stage is admirable. He has been a friend to the United States at his own political peril. Standing with the United States in Iraq has made Blair a figure of scorn on level far exceeding Mr. Bush. Politcally, Blair had nothing to gain and everything to lose in joining the United States in Iraq. He did it anyway. He leaves behind an admirable example of standing firm in one's convictions to follow. I hope that history is much kinder to him than than the present is. I suspect it will be.
